About Qustas

Somebody has to measure the last link

Qustas is the independent center that measures whether companies tell the truth about their products. It owns the transparency standard; an external council governs how it changes.

Why it exists

Four links.
Three are supervised.

From the laboratory to the pharmacy shelf, every step of a medicine answers to an authority. What the company chooses to tell the person taking it answers to no one.

That is the link Qustas measures.

  1. The trial

Ethics committees · inspection · registries

  2. The regulator

    Statutory mandate · published decisions

  3. The company decides what to say

    Unsupervised

No mandate · no inspection · no public record

  4. The person taking it

Receives whatever the previous link decided

Governance

Qustas owns the standard. The council governs how it changes.

Seats are held by organisations, not by individuals. The rated industry never sits on it.

  • Government
    health authority
  • Clinical
    practising physicians
  • Academia
    scientific competence
  • Consumers
    patient associations
  • Qustas
    one seat of five

Dashed seats are open. No organisation has been committed — deliberately. The council deliberates on the manual, which Qustas owns.

No seat can act alone

A change needs three of five. Qustas can neither pass one nor block one.

The vote is on record

Every version of the manual is published with the decision that produced it.

The seat is the organisation

A person leaving does not take the seat with them.

The limits

What Qustas will not do.

A standards body is defined as much by its limits as by its method. These are limits on Qustas, not on the companies it measures.

No money from the rated industry enters Qustas

No payment changes a score

Qustas does not recommend medicines or guide clinical decisions

The founders

You deserve to know What they know

Everything a person takes, wears or trusts is described by whoever sells it, and nobody measures how much of the story gets left out. Qustas is that refusal turned into an institution.

Daniela Cifuentes Barrios

Daniela Cifuentes Barrios

Co-founder

Daniela cares about who gets left out of the conversation. She grew up watching people decide things about their own lives with only what someone else chose to tell them.

Medicine is the clearest case: the full account exists. It just reaches everyone except the person taking it. Qustas is her answer to that.

David Solórzano Quevedo

David Solórzano Quevedo

Co-founder

David grew up somewhere information was a privilege. He learned early that people who cannot check are people who can be told anything, and that the gap is never an accident.

Data was the way out: institutions phrase things, records do not. His work is making information checkable. Qustas is that, applied where nobody was looking: what a company tells you.
